The 2021 Winter League for the W.D. Ryan Memorial Trophy (18 Holes) and the Jim Houton Memorial Trophy (9 Holes).

The 2021 Winter League, sponsored by Energia, will commence again shortly (restrictions permitting). From the weekend of January 2nd/3rd through to the weekend of January 23rd/24th, the Winter League will be run as a 9 Hole Competition over 4 rounds, with the best 3 scores counting towards the final total.  From January 30th/31st through to March 6th/7th, the Winter League will be an 18 Hole Competition over 6 rounds, with the best 4 scores counting towards the final total.  The 9 Hole winner will receive the Jim Houton Memorial Trophy and the 18 Hole winner will receive the W.D.Ryan Memorial Trophy.  This format change is for 2021 only and is due to Covid-19 Timesheet restrictions.  

The entry fee for both the 9 Hole and the 18 Hole Winter League is €6 per round, for those playing on Sundays, the person marking your card does not have to be playing in the Winter League but must be a member of Killiney GC.  Junior Members with a handicap of 16 or less are eligible to play in the Winter League and win all categories of prizes.  Normal booking rules apply.  Entry will be primarily via the App but there will be facilities for terminal entry where required.  On Sunday you do not have to play in the designated lines but must enter before play.  

In both the 9 Hole and 18 Hole competition there will be 3 Prize Classes: 
Class 1: 0 to 12 handicaps.
Class 2: 13 to 17 handicaps.
Class 3: 18 and above handicaps.

These will be subject to review if there are insufficient entries in any one class.  If there are changes to the classes, they will be notified to all competitors at the end of week two. 

Depending on weather conditions, the course may be varied from day to day. 

If for any reason a Weekend Competition is cancelled, the following adjustments will apply if less than 4 rounds of the 9 Hole Winter League competition are played:
3 Rounds: 2 best scores to count.
2 Rounds: 2 best scores to count.
1 Round: Best score to count.

The following adjustments will apply if less than 6 rounds of the 18 Hole Winter League competition are played:5 Rounds: 4 best scores to count.
4 Rounds: 3 best scores to count.
3 Rounds: 2 best scores to count.
2 Rounds: 2 best scores to count.
1 Round: Best score to count.

Prizes: A maximum of TWO prizes may be won by any one player in the each of the Winter League Competitions in the order as listed below: (Players who finish in overall first, second or third place may not win a class prize but can win a daily round prize).
The Overall Winner receives the Memorial Trophy and a prize.
Prizes will also be awarded for overall second and third place.
Weekend Prizes: Winner and Second place.
The winner and runner-up in each Class will be awarded a prize.
In the event of a tie for a prize, the winner will be the person with the best individual round score.

The timesheets for Saturdays/Sundays will be released on the club website at 8pm on the Thursday 10 days before the competition. Exception: The timesheet for Round One of the 9 Hole Winter League will be released on the club website on Wednesday December 23rd at 8pm.  A weekly Leaderboard will be posted to the Killiney GC Website.  Weekly results will be posted to the Club Website after play finishes on Sunday.  A separate weekly 9-hole competition will run from 30/31st Jan to facilitate those that do not wish to play 18 holes at this time.
