Sunday 1st October - Club Finals Day
All Juniors are encouraged to participate in at least one of the days, even if they have not been able to play in the regular competitions.
Junior Golfer of the Year:
The Golfer of the Year is decided by a player’s FOUR best scores recorded in the Wednesday Competitions between Wednesday 7th June and Wednesday 25th August inclusive. The more competitions you play the better chance you have of winning!
Matchplays:
Draws will be made on 1st June will be posted on the Junior Notice Board and the ClubNet App.
(Members tab – Club Matchplays) and on the Killiney GC website (Master Scoreboard – Knockout Draws)
Sherin Cup (Boys) and Junior Girls Matchplay
Lowest 16 Handicap Boys as at 1st June will be entered into the Matchplay draw.
The 1st round will need to be completed by 31st July, Quarter-finals by 31st August, Semi-finals by 29th September and the Final will be held on 1st October.
Can all competitors remember to enter the result of your match on the draw sheet on the Junior Notice Board and boys please also inform Keith Bardon and girls inform Maureen Flannery via Text or WhatsApp.
All matches will need to be played on time and no extensions will be allowed. If you don’t manage to play your match by the deadline, then we ask that you toss a coin to determine the result. However, if one Junior has reached out to another with times and dates and the other Junior isn’t available, the committee will determine who has made the effort to play the match and award the match accordingly.
The final of both matchplay competitions will be played on Club Finals Day, which this year will be held on Sunday 1st of October.
Paddy O’Beirne Elm Park Trophy (Girls & Boys)
This inter-club competition is a great opportunity for our younger golfers to get experience on six great golf courses. It is a popular competition and is quite sociable as you enjoy refreshments after the game at the host club. It is played during the months of June to September. The format is 18 hole, Single Stableford.
For each of the 6 matches we endeavour to vary the teams and we enter 3 girls and 4 boys from our Junior section.
The matches commence on 19th June in Grange G.C. with the final matches played in Elm Park G.C. on 10th September.
Interclub Matchplay - Junior Boys:
The Boys Junior Foursomes team lost narrowly to Stackstown in the first round. The Fred Daly team have been drawn to play Bray in Round One. The Under 15 Boys team play Edmondstown GC in July.
Interclub Matchplay - Junior Girls:
These Interclub matches consist of 4 Junior Girls playing 2 matches away and 2 at home against another club.
Coaching:
We would encourage as many junior members as possible to take lessons with our Professionals, Leo and Sergio. Lessons can booked through the Professionals Shop. We will be running extra group coaching programmes over the summer months, details of which will follow over the coming weeks.
Best of luck to all our juniors this season!
