Dear Members,

Lovely to see a bit of sunshine back for the moment - long may it continue! However, some talk on the radio and social media of the Beast from the East returning in November is not sitting too well with us!  Fingers crossed it's all just talk!

What a fabulous week we had last week with Club Finals Day and our very own Ryder Cup Challenge along with the Official Ryder Cup - Congratulations to Europe (in Killiney & Italy) and all our Finals Winners.  Hope you enjoyed all the celebrations. Rumour has it the Italian Fare on Friday Evening in the Dining Room was second to none!

Winter Rules
Placing on Fairways/Rough
With effect from today Wednesday 4th October, Placing on the Fairways and in the Rough is being introduced.  All balls should be lifted, cleaned and placed within 6 inches, but no nearer to the hole.  Golfers should ensure that they mark the ball position before lifting it.
Tyre Tracks
Reminder, if your ball comes to rest in a tyre track it should be treated as Ground Under Repair.  You may lift your ball and place it at the nearest point of relief NOT nearer to the hole.
Divot Repairs
As the ground is now considerably softer, golfers are taking more and larger divots when playing golf shots and causing greater damage to the course.  Accordingly, golfers must be even more diligent in taking a divot bag and repairing any divots encountered on the course.

Men's Saturday Competition Prize Donations for 2024
Gentlemen, As is tradition in Killiney Golf Club, Members donate the main prize in the Saturday Competitions.
For the benefit of newer members, the cost is the value of the prize that you the donor put up for the Competition, for example a case of wine or a Putter etc.  While the value of the prize is up to you, it is normally in the region of €200 for a singles competition and €250 / €300 for a fourball as there are two winners.  You can donate on your own or with other Members to share the costs.
If you wish to donate a prize for 2024, you can add your name to the list that is now up on the Men's Locker Room Noticeboard or email Mags in the office to add your name to the list.
