Dear Members,

What delightful weather - I think summer has arrived at last!  Don't forget your Sun Cream, Hats and Sun Glasses!!  Make the most of our fabulous Veranda while it lasts.  Even if you're not golfing,  come up for a few drinks & some Casual Dining & enjoy the sunshine and view with your fellow members and/or guests.

SOME HOUSE-KEEPING FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER

1. Buggy Keys are still missing,  could they please be returned to Pro Shop as soon as possible.

2. Any member who has mistakenly taken a Trolley Bar please return this to the Pro Shop. 4 trolley bars alone last week were not returned and are currently missing.

3. Please return all Sand Bags to the club - we have a very small amount left in the Clubhouse.

4. Reminder: Sergio & Gillian's Wedding - Monday 5th August
We wish Sergio & Gillian the very best for their upcoming wedding day. Sergio’s final day is tomorrow,  Thursday 1st August before the upcoming nuptials. We have a box in the bar if any member would like to leave a card for them.

5. If anyone has the Veteran Trophy (Picture of trophy shown below) in their possession please return it to the office.

Thank you,

Kind Regards,
Mark Carwood
General Manager

COURSE UPDATE
Thankfully the good weather has arrived. Over the last month we have had very good growing conditions so I hope you all agree are fairways are in good condition. We would like to keep them this way. I would like to remind everyone of the importance of carrying and USING a sandbag. Even if you are one of those heaven sent golfers that do not take divots it would be great if you could fill any other unfilled divots you happen to pass by. The real object of the exercise here is get all players to take a FILLED sand bag and to please bring it back EMPTY.  Remember the more you use the lighter it gets.

The greenkeepers have remarked there is a large improvement in the number of pitchmarks being repaired so we thank you for that. So once again a gentle reminder of  the 3 R's

Repair Pitchmarks
Replace and Sand Divots
Rake Bunkers

Please see a link below to some short videos kindly borrowed from Dun Laoghaire Golf Club on the correct way to do all three.

For those interested the agronomist visited in May. His full report is now available for members to read on the website under the documents tab (or Click Here).

CLUB CORPORATE DAY
Once again we were lucky with the weather on our annual Club Corporate Day.  The day was an opportunity for members to invite friends and colleagues to show off all the wonderful and spectacular treats which our club has to offer.  Nearly 70 played and Chef Alan served up a magnificent dinner on the night. Congratulations to Gerry McNamara and his team who took 1st prize.
Over 200 tickets were sold for the monster raffle with the first prize of a €1,000 voucher for the Pro shop which was won by Finbarr Fay on Gerry McNamara's team.
There were super prizes for the first four winning teams and a plethora of picky outs and raffle prizes. Many thanks to all our teams and tee box sponsors, your support is always very much appreciated. Huge thanks as always to the kitchen staff and to the dining room service staff who are second to none. Last but not least, thanks to John and all the bar staff for keeping our glasses full.

LADIES' NEWS SECTION

Newcastle Design Semi-Open
On Thursday July 25th Newcastle Design very kindly sponsored a lady’s semi-open competition which was very well supported with a full timesheet. We are delighted to announce that 2 hole-in-one's were scored in the event, both on the 16th hole. Our very own Marianne Doran scored, and a guest of our Vice-Captain, Angela Lincoln from Powerscourt, also scored a hole in 1. There was great excitement in the club that evening and congratulations to both players.
