A new name on the board. Naoise Kelly, a new member, played his way through some tough opposition to reach the final. There he met former Champion Peter Wyse, himself having battled through to the final taking down Hurricane Harry Lawlor in the semi-final who was going for three in a row - a serious scalp indeed.

So the scene was set - The recently refurbished room looking its best and the referee - a former champion himself Gordon Horsfield was at the ready.

The first frame went to form with Naoise clocking breaks into the twenties and showing his true snooker skills - One nil to Naoise. The second frame was a different story with Peter changing tactics and with some masterful safety play sneaked the second frame on the black ball.

The final frame was very close indeed and with the pink and black remaining Peter needed both while Naoise required just the pink. Naoise took on a long pink but it rattled in the pocket. Now a great chance for Peter to get his name for the second time on the board. He needed to hit it quite hard to track down for the black..whack..another rattle but the pink stayed out. Naoise made no mistake with the final shot of the night and a new star is born.

Congratulations to both players and a big thanks you to all the competitors for their support.
