There is a welcome return to the Men's Challenge Cup Auction which will take place on Friday, 10th June at 7.30pm in the Clubhouse Bar, which will coincide with a member only Nine & Dine. 30% of the proceeds will go to the Captain’s Charity - Festina Lente.

The auction was last held in the 80’s and proved to be a wonderful week as members came up to view how their 'purchases' were getting on.  For those who do not know what it is all about or have forgotten, here is how it will work.

On Sunday the 5th June, the players who qualify (32) for the Men’s Challenge Cup, sponsored by Titleist, will be announced.

A catalogue of these players will then be available to view on the website and in the Bar with lot numbers and descriptions and you can join in the fun by selecting your preferred player from the catalogue to bid on either on your own or as part of a syndicate.   Any one of the thirty-two players may buy a half a share in themselves for €20 which they will pay to the purchaser.   Prizes will be paid out to the winner, runner up and 3rd and 4th.

If you cannot make it to the auction and want to bid on a player you can do this in advance by filling a bidding slip (available in the bar) or email and the clerk at the auction will bid up to that amount on your behalf on the night.

The live auction will take place on Friday 10th at 7.30pm in the clubhouse Bar.   The auction will be hosted by the auctioneer for the night, Mr. Ivan Cruise, who, with gavel in hand, will be ready to take your bids, ably assisted by our Clerk Gordon Horsfield - all to raise funds for a very worthy cause .

So come along and join us for a complimentary drink on Friday evening and view these mighty men in the flesh as we hope the full catalogue of players will be there strutting their stuff, before each of them is auctioned off to the highest bidder. Please note syndicates are allowed.

The Five-day knockout match play battle for the coveted Challenge Cup will begin on Sunday 12th June with the final and 3rd and 4th place play off played on Friday 17th June.
