The first three months have flown by so I thought I better update you all with all the latest news.
Winter League
The Winter League generously sponsored by Energia was won by Louis Lavelle playing off 23 with a great total over his 4 best rounds of 161.
This longstanding Killiney Competition is growing in numbers year on year.
- 2014: 368 played. Rounds lost: 4
- 2015: 542 played. Rounds lost: 2
- 2016: 415 played. Rounds lost: 8
- 2017: 551 played. Rounds lost: 4
Sunday also proved to be a very popular day to play this year.
Thank you to everyone who took part.
Matches
We played two rounds of the FitzGibbon Cup. We beat Old Conna 4/2 and drew with Greystones 3/3. Unfortunately Greystones beat Old Conna 5.5/.5 so Greystones progressed to the next round.
Well done to everyone that represented Killiney and to our Team Managers George O Connell and Paul Kirwan, plenty more Matches coming up, so best of luck to everyone.
Team Uniform
The Team uniform is now a White Polo Shirt, Blue KGC Jumper and Blue Trousers, and everything is available in the Pro Shop. My thanks to Leo and Keith for heavily discounting the items.
The Shirt is €40, Jumper €80, Trousers €50 or all three for only €135, great value.
Men’s Committee
I am delighted to announce that Brendan Seaver has joined the Men’s Committee and Paraic Lavelle has agreed to take over from Brendan McAndrew with the prize presentations.
Juniors
I have great pleasure in announcing that our Junior Boys' Captain is, Cillian Cummins, son of Aengus and our Junior Girls' Captain is Emily Gordon. I hope they both have a great time and I send them my best wishes for their year ahead. The Junior Captains’ Drive in is on Sunday the 23rd of April. Please come and support their day.
Nine Hole Championship
This is a new mixed competition organised by the R&A, the GUI and the ILGU. Killiney are going to enter a Team to compete in a regional final. The four lucky pairs from Ireland will compete in the overall final on the 14th and 15th of July in Royal Birkdale. Your entry fee is free, so whoever has the best score from the Men’s Section on their 1st nine on Saturday the 22nd of April will qualify to represent the Men from Killiney along with the winning player from the Ladies’ Section. Best of luck to all, it's a prize not to be missed.
Prize Presentation
Our first Prize Presentation this year will be held in the Bar on Friday the 10th of March, please come along and celebrate with all the winners in the Winter League and more. I have arranged for Wales to play Ireland at 20.05 that night so it could be a long evening!!
Captains' Drive-In
The Captains’ Drive-In is this Sunday at 4.15pm. There are a few lines left on the morning time sheet. The drinks reception is at 3pm with canapés. Dinner and prize presentations for the golfers is at 5.30.
I look forward to meeting you all on Sunday, hopefully the weather will be kind to us.
