I'm excited about a new search function which I've added to the website.

A magnifying glass indicates a search function

It works or searches the caption attached to a photograph. Suppose you were looking for a photograph of Aisling Sherin. If you type Aisling Sherin into the search box, photographs of Aisling, Larry and Conor will pop up. The search will find any part of the name. Have a look at the sample collection. It contains 111 photographs in 6 albums. The search works across all albums in the collection, and will display all photographs that match the search criterion.

Try searching for Purcell, Orla, Nigel, and cake,  and see what happens.

And it's fast. It could zip through a 1000 photographs in less than a second.

You can run another search straight from the search box. You can also move the popup box and resize it. Obviously, this is only practical on a large computer screen. You can also click the X at the top right hand side of the popup box to dismiss it, if it's in the way.

The search tool is critically dependent on a photograph having a caption. If there is no caption, the search tool has nothing to work on, and will not find the photograph.

You can bypass the search function and click on the album. The albums will display as normal.

The file name (e.g. 170403-4), the caption, and the number of photos in the photographic album, now display by default.

Paraic Lavelle has started to add captions to photographs. He is working on photos taken in 2017. When finished he will then start working on the 2016 albums. There are 39 photographic albums for 2016, and over 1,000 photos, so this is not a trivial task. It is time consuming. Any help he can get would be much appreciated. And he will need your help.

I've run tests on PCs (Windows and Mac), smartphone (iPhone) and a tablet (iPad) and I haven't run into any difficulty. It should work.

In the meantime, look at the sample album and take it for a drive. Let me know how you get on and if you have any problem with it.

 Enjoy!
