It is somewhat of an understatement to say that Sunday's climatic conditions were incompatible with a Captains' Drive-In. Strong winds and driving rain, which eventually turned to sleet and then to a dusting of snow.
It was very cold. However this did not deter Captain Miriam and Captain Brendan, who completed a successful, if unusual, Captains' Drive-In in atrocious conditions.
A tent was rigged up just outside the Members' Bar and our Captains drove diagonally across the 9th fairway towards the 1st Tee Box, to cheers from members sheltering from the weather in the bar.
The Guard-of-Honour, comprising former captains, lined up indoors. Sensibly sheltering from the inclement weather.
It was an unusual and memorable Drive-In, and a credit to Captain Miriam and Captain Brendan.
