The Junior Committee has re-introduced the Killiney Cubs Section of the Golf Club (age 8-11yrs) and it has proven a huge success. All Cubs are either Children, Grandchildren or Great Grandchildren of current playing members.

To date we have 30 registered Cubs and we held our first ‘Fun Day Scramble’ on Sunday. I am not sure who had the most fun, the Cubs who played or the Leaders who got to hold the Balloons while leading the teams on the course..!!

It was a gloriously sunny day (following the Fake Hurricane during the week) and 20 very young players headed off to play in the fun 3 hole Shotgun Scramble. It was a bit like having our own Family Ryder Cup there were so many supporters, players, Captains and Vice Captains, all the Grandads and Grannies who caddied and finally Parents, Aunts and Uncles who happened to be at Sunday lunch!!. all closely watching the form and secretly thinking that their little Cub had the best swing on the day.

A huge Thank You to Leo who definitely lost a few pounds running between teams ensuring all grips and swings were in regulation. The day (3 holes!) finished with a prize giving to all to took part and buns and cordial provided by the cooks on the Junior Committee, thank you!.

We really appreciate the support we are getting from the Mens and Ladies committees to start up the Cubs again and hopefully will be the source of great golfers for future Killiney Golf Club Teams.

We will hold another Fun Cub Scramble in the Spring so let me know if you would like to register any family members in that age group.
