We are back playing golf although the weather needs to improve a little to allow the buggies out and increase the enjoyment levels for all.
George O’Connell seems less affected by the climate than most as he posted another great score in the ENERGIA Winter League on Saturday.
Just to keep you up to date on what’s going on despite the rain.
- Work on course continues, false fronts to the greens are in already and I hope you agree they look fantastic.
- With Winter Rules you can mark your ball on the false fronts at present, when Winter Rules end be careful until they are declared to be part of the Green.
- The new sports bonded bunkers worked very well in the recent heavy rain.
- The new Chairman of the Tuesday 4ball committee is David McNamara. Karl Unger has also joined the team.
- Now that Fitzpatrick’s Killiney Castle are no longer sponsoring the Killiney Invitation Week – we are looking for a new supporter - cost circa €6K. They have kindly agreed to sponsor the Autumn Leaves.
- We have 17 prospective new members at the interview stage for full membership.
Dates for your diary:
- Valentines dinner in the club is on Saturday February 13th (Waiting List only)
- Quiz night Saturday 5th March – Ivan Cruise asking the questions
- Next men’s presentation is for the Energia Winter League on Sat 5th March at 6pm
- Captains’ drive in is Sunday March 13th – Not one to miss......
- A special support golf and dinner for the family of the Late Roger Farrell, Restaurant Manager of KGC will be held on Sun 17 April – Book early to avoid disappointment.
- Clubhouse & Full Members Day 11th March
Don’t forget this is approaching the time our teams prepare for the interclub competitions so I hope you will come along and support their matches. This year we intend to put up on the KGC website when and where the matches are being held so that those intending supporters will be able to attend
Yours in Golf,
Gordon Horsfield
